BIEM.L.FDLKK Celebrates the Chinese New Year with Eastern Aesthetics

With the Lunar New Year approaching and the winter solstice near, it's time to cook porridge and await the arrival of spring. As the Laba Festival approaches, it's just over twenty days until the annual Spring Festival. The Spring Festival has significant historical and cultural importance to the Chinese people, symbolizing the essence of Chinese civilization.

In 2024, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, it is the Year of the Dragon. The dragon, the most mythical creature in ancient Chinese legends, has always been considered the totem of the Chinese nation. The dragon, capable of soaring through clouds, creating rain and clouds, has been believed to ward off disasters and dispel evil. In Chinese culture, the dragon symbolizes diligence, bravery, resilience, and is a unique emblem of Chinese culture. The enduring fascination of the Chinese people with dragon culture has earned them the title of descendants of the dragon.

It is often said that divine dragons exist throughout the world, especially within the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City Museum houses numerous artifacts containing dragon elements, including clothing, furniture, clocks, porcelain, architecture, and ceremonial armor. These dragon-related artifacts have traversed the long river of time, reflecting the past and present. Some even date back to the Neolithic era, spanning the periods of Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Tang, Song, and up to the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, continuing to the present day.

When classic lifestyle, golf leisure fashion collides with Chinese New Year culture in 2024, the auspicious dragon dances within the Forbidden City, ushering in the new spring and initiating an unexpected encounter with Eastern aesthetics. Taking the dragon from the Chinese zodiac as the inspiration, BIEM.L.FDLKK × Forbidden City Court Culture's 2024 Spring Joint Collection, "Dragons Reign Supreme," has officially debuted.

For the spring of 2024, BIEM.L.FDLKK draws inspiration from the Nine-Dragon Wall in the Forbidden City Museum and the museum's collection: the "Zhao Mengfu Running Script Longevity Scroll." Collaborating with Su embroidery inheritor Zhang Xue, the collection aims to take everyone's work, employ skilled craftsmanship, convey the words of the Chinese nation, and create the BIEM.L.FDLKK × Forbidden City Court Culture 2024 spring-themed Dragon Reign Supreme series.

The Nine-Dragon Wall of the Forbidden City Museum, along with the Nine-Dragon Walls in Datong, Shanxi, and Beihai Park in Beijing, is collectively known as the "Three Great Nine-Dragon Walls of China." Located south of the Gate of Heavenly Purity, the Nine-Dragon Wall features a cloud and water pattern on the surface, adorned in blue and green, creating a majestic atmosphere of interconnected water and sky. The lower part consists of a Hanyu white jade base, dignified and solemn. Nine huge dragons soar above the sea, with the central golden dragon encircling its front claws and lifting its hind claws above the sea, the dragon's body winding, supporting a flaming jewel under its head, with a majestic and imposing appearance. Aligned with the Hall of Supreme Harmony and the Palace of Eternal Longevity along the north-south axis, it exudes a mighty and solemn aura.

Zhao Mengfu, a famous painter and calligrapher of the Yuan Dynasty, not only innovated painting with a new style but also became the leading figure in calligraphy during the Yuan Dynasty. In the Running Script Longevity Scroll, Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy demonstrates a well-proportioned and balanced structure, elegant and unrestrained characters, smooth and graceful brushwork. The layout is dense yet spacious, with an elegance that incorporates both restraint and flourish in the strokes, displaying an artistry that integrates various strengths into a cohesive whole.

BIEM.L.FDLKK combines the central yellow dragon of the Nine-Dragon Wall with Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy, presenting it using the Su embroidery technique, utilizing nearly 20 types of Su embroidery stitches and 16 colors of silk threads. The creation took three months to complete. The theme "Dragons Reign Supreme" not only showcases the ambitious spirit of the Chinese people but also pays homage to the dragon, a totem of the Chinese nation, symbolizing prosperity, peace, national prosperity, and abundance.

Furthermore, the theme design for this season incorporates the magnificent landscape of plum blossoms, high mountains, and flowing water, combining it with the calligraphy design of the word "龙" (dragon). With elements such as brand letters, riverbank waves, and more, the design showcases the pure essence of Chinese calligraphy and painting, expressing beautiful wishes for the picturesque landscapes.

In the auspicious Year of the Dragon, celebrating the flourishing age of dragons, BIEM.L.FDLKK extends its New Year greetings with Dragons Reign Supreme, welcoming the new spring. Anticipate endless beauty, meaning, and blessings, as clothes become the language conveying wishes of happiness and prosperity. Also, look forward to more brands, like BIEM.L.FDLKK, that, in their unique ways, promote traditional culture and inherit the essence of Chinese civilization.
